Our History

We are a church rooted in the Restoration Movement. We are blessed by God almighty and serve our  Savior Jesus Christ as members of the body of Christ.

On January 12, 1966, a group of devoted people met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hervey Sewell to plan a new church. Twenty-two people met with the intentions of forming a Christian Church on the West Side of Richmond, somewhere between Richmond and Centerville, Indiana. Hervey stepped down as Minister of Northside to work with a new forming Christian church.

Weekly meetings were held at the Sewell’s home until April 3, 1966, when they held their first worship service in the Parkview School. At that time, thirty-eight people transferred membership to the fledging congregation, and are considered our Charter Members. They were full of faith!

With faithful people like Bethel Wesner, Paul Orsborn, and many committees  the church grew and was able to purchase land, obtain recognition as a church, and build our own building. Construction was completed and the church held their first worship service in the new building on December 15, 1968.

We were blessed to be able to add on additional classrooms and the Family Life Center in 1996 and we have been so privileged to to help so many good missions locally and globally over all of these years.
